We have been doing induction/ttransition and we are doing brochure on the computer of what we want it to be like on the first day of school 2011 and we are doing a whole fun day worth of games and tours around the school.

Equipment:

Rules:

1. The winner can choose who serves, sides etc
2. The ball must bounce on the table once before being hit/returned.
3. The table is divided into 2 parts - the ball must bounce on the opposite side.
4. Can be singles or doubles.
5. Each player serves 2 points in a row and then switch server.
6. You need to score 11 points to win the match. If both players/team have 10 you must play on until either player/team has a 2point lead.
7. You must not have a 'double bounce'.

Techniques:

1. The Drive - is a light top spin strike that produces a low ball.
2. The Push - a basic back spin stroke

This term in PE, we will be learning about Racquet sports in preparation for the year 9/10 Racquet day that is held against Cambridge and Berkley Middle Schools.

On Monday i learnt maths and speeches its not all that great speaking in front of a big audience its just the same if they are just all stering at you its harder to consentrate so this term i am not looking foward to doing speeches.

Downloading your personal details to peole that you dont even know then its possible that they could track you down and who knows what they will capable of. the things that inclued in your personal details are. hamoe address D.O.B phone number home town and your school email address and your last name. now with all that personal information many people like stangers can find where you live they can order alot of pizza and send it to your address on purpose or maybe they aould do worst so be smart and think twice before you do something that you will regret.

On monday mr oliver from pukete came to our school to talk about induction and transition we ask him heaps of question that he can anwser so we wrote down all the things he saud to us.then it was time for him to leave and he told miss thompson that we were awesome and that he was going to tell his whole school.:)

Cyber saftey is a type of bulling online it isnt good to give your personal infomation to anybody ever so dont you ever give your email password phone number and address to any body

Mr Jackson is thinking about letting us bring our phones to school for school use only eg to take photos and for recording videos only.

On saturday 4th september 2010 a huge earthquake hit christchurch big as which destroed every thing from houses to road shops and everything u cn think of. a family of 31 is living in a school hall. even what now is not screening on tv 2 because of the earhtquake.

Who did it effect? All the people in Christchurch.
What happened? Earthquake struck
When did it happen? Saturday 4th September 2010.
Where was most effected?Houses Roads and Buildings.
Why did it happen? It part of nature it just comes when ever.
How will the damage be fixed? Raise money and get building.

Rock Story

The earth is made up of an outer crust, the mantle and an outer and inner core. The earth is like an apple. Its outer crust is like an apples skin and the inner core is like that of an apples.

Plate tectonics describe how the earth’s surface pieces fit together like huge puzzle pieces. The forces beneath the earths surface cause the plates to shift and move. This causes volcanoes and earthquakes to occur. When plates collide or rub together volcanoes and earthquakes appear at the boundaries. This is called ‘The ring of fire’.


Mountains are formed when pressure on the earths crust forces it to rise. It pushes large blocks of rocks upwards. They also form when two plates collide and one moves up over the other.

There are three types of rocks sedimentary rock, ingenious rock and metamorphic rock.

The landforms that are on our earth are amazing and move and change constantly.

The butterfly first starts off as:

Through a short time I hatch through a solid and pod shaped egg. The rest of the eggs usually laid protected location by plants that’s will soon turn into a caterpillar.

I am now a caterpillar and I eat a lot just on the leafs that are on my plant for example monarch lays its egg on the end of the milk weed plants which I will keep eating.

I am now a cocoon waiting to free in a couple of weeks when I will be a beautiful butterflies I will fly away to live my life to be free.

Butterflies can now be free after they have all been through this stuff.

Why we have parent student teacher conference and how they are organised?

Why do we have parent, teacher, and student interviews???

I think we have them so that and teachers and parents can know all about our learning and how we are going.

How do we organise them???

First we organise our interviews by taking home letters that our teachers have organised. Your parents then choose a time they would like and they send the letter back to school. The teacher then gives them another letter with a time slot on it. We run interviews from 2pm until 7pm and our parents choose a time that would be suitable for them.

The parent then comes in on either Tuesday or Wednesday to come to talk to our teacher then the child comes with the parent.

Then the student shows them what they have been doing in class.

They should know their goals which they tell there parents and they also tell there parents what group they are in and all the learning stuff that needs to be heard.

Then the parent gets to know the teacher and the teacher gets to know the parent they talk about your learning and how you are getting along.

The parent and teacher have a 30 minute conference to explain what we have been doing at school and how we do learning.

How Learning Is In Room 5???

In room 5 we have been going P.E mostly everyday since we’ve been at school the sport we have been learning is TOUCH.

Eventually we’ve done athletics in a suburb called Cambridge and we had schools that we versed that are Barkley intermediate and Cambridge intermediate. We came first in girls and boys relay.

In room 5 we have rules we use the green card system there is a green yellow orange blue and red. This is the way the green system goes. The green is good all day. The yellow means a warning. The orange mean lunch time detentions with Miss Thompson or Mr Jackson Blue card is phone call and a letter sent home. Red means mainly the same as blue but you will arrange a meeting with your parents. If you get a orange card three time in a row you get a detentions till 4:30 with miss Thompson

How to play touch?

What is touch about?

Touch is a sport that can be played by any one from any age. Its similar to rugby instead you have to be touched and not tackled and instead you touch the player on the opposite team.

You play in a team of 6-12 players. Touch is a sport played all over the world and it keeps you active. You have to be 5 meters away from the opposite team you’re facing.


This sport is to be played by anybody around the world and by any age.
